T-Plan integration w/ DOORS and Reporting

Hello There,

We ran into the issue related to the reporting when T-Plan integrated w/DOORS.
DOORS related information does not get carry over to Design or Manage view.

Generated reports like "Test Plan Detail" and "Execution Schedule Detail" do not have expected tracebility to the requirements (DOORS number)

We consider it a bug, rather then usability issue.

Hi Inna

Thankyou for contacting T-Plan Support.

From the screenshots you kindly supplied it would appear that having imported your requirements into Analyze using DOORS, you are then copying the Analyze hierarchy that has been created by the Import into Design. The Imported Test Conditions in Design are being turned into Scripts in Design.

While using this method makes it appear that the very same entities you created in Analyze are now in Design, you have actually created new entities in Design that no longer relate to the originals in Analyze.

If we consider the Analyze Test Condition entitled: "Self Installation" which has a DOORS number of "1124". If you copy this from Analyze and paste into a Specification in Design, a Script is created entitled "Self Installation". While this shares the same name as the Test Condition of "Self Installation", it is however, a new unique entity e.g. a Script as opposed to a Test Condition and therefore will not have the same DOORS number.

There are a couple of options to allow the unique DOORS information to be maintained within Analyze, Design and Manage.

The first option:
*Import your Test Conditions from DOORS into Analyze
*Within Design manually create a Script
*Copy the Test Conditions you require from Analyze into the Script in Design.
*The Test Conditions now in Design will maintain their unique DOORS information as they are exact copies of the Test Conditions held in Analyze

The second option:
If you are happy to use the requirements that you have imported into Analyze using DOORS as your Scripts in Design, it is posible to bypass the Analyze module completely and import straight into Design.

* From within Design right mouse click on the Hierarchy where you wish to Import into.
* From the dropdown menu that appears select "Import"
*Select "DOORS Analyze Import" (it should read DOORS Design Import- an issue has been raised with T-Plan Development to cover this)
* Finally select : "Import"
* You will now be able to import items from DOORS straight into Design thus maintaining the unique DOORS references.

DOORS numbers are not in Execution Schedule report

Hi Sam,

Either one of your suggestions will work for our process with the exception of one, but critical issue for us. DOORS numbers are not shown in the Execution Schedule Report. We need it for traceability.

Hi Inna

I have spoken to the Development Team and unfortunately the DOORS reference number is not available in the Manage reports.

The workaround is to use the new Office Export functionality in Release 6.0. I believe Charlie Wheeler the T-Plan product Manager is currently looking into several issues for you (including this one). I will check with him to get you an update on progress.
