Insurance Classification

Post by AWinter » Thu May 10, 2007 1:43 pm

My job title is "software auditor", but I have a difficult time telling an online insurance company what my occupation is. Anybody else got a way to resolve this?

 I appreciate the difficulty- I usually pick the most exotic sounding IT related occupation available in the dropdown (doesn't seem to affect the premiums too much!) Only trouble is remembering the following year what you chose as your occupation the previous year.

At least you don't get to see the usual glazed expression when you tell someone face to face that you work in IT!

Exotic could mean all sorts of things. The more exotic the more you might get charged!
"Script writer" equates to someone who writes plays for tv and radio, sits in smoked filled rooms, drinks loads of beer, drives wrecklessly...

Hi Alan,

Your best bet would be to go with something like Computer Operator or Computer Technician, this makes for a very broad range of professions and works well for me.

Kind regards,
