Error Encountered with Edited Crystal Report Template

Post by MHyde » Wed Mar 28, 2007 9:34 am

Hi,

When we alter one of the report templates for Design and append it to our report module, we get the following error dialog when we attempt to run the report:

Have other users experienced this and is there a simple way around it?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Could you confirm a couple of details for us?

You're using T-Plan 5.1.2 with an Oracle 9 DB?
Have you successfully modified any report templates before and got them into T-Plan or do you get this error every time?
Could you attach the template that you have modified to this post? (Alternatively send through to T-Plan Support).

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Hi SClaydon,

Thanks for the response.

T-Plan stuff:

T-Plan Release 5.1.2 (Version 05.01.1622)

Oracle stuff:

SQL> select * from v$version;

BANNER
----------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
PL/SQL Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
CORE Version 8.1.3.0.0 - Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 3.4.0.0.0 - Production

File template attached. The file is a version of the Testing Instructions Detail - One Per Page report. The original report runs without errors.

To create the new one, I deleted a few fields and changed the frame size of a couple of others.

Please do not change this file as a solution as we have not settled on our design. What we really need is to understand the error we're getting and how we can avoid it when we make future amendments.

Cheers,

Mike

It looks as if the connection to the report database is incorrect.
To rectify this do the following:-

Open the template in Crystal reports.
Select Database from the main menu... Database Location.
Select 'Create New Connection' from the bottom pane.
Double-Click on 'Database Files' and navigate to the Report.mdb file. (There should be a copy of Report.mdb in C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\T-Plan\Extensions\tpreport)
Once the Report.mdb is listed in the bottom pane, Select the appropriate table and highlight it.
Highlight the table in the top pane and hit the 'Update' button.
Close the dialog.
Finally select Database from the main menu.... Verify Database. It should say 'Database is up-to-date'
Save template and add to T-Plan.

If you still have problems, please send a copy of your edited template to Support and I will investigate further.

Regards,

Dave Bond.

Y'see, you'd think I'd know that, wouldn't you?

Many thanks for your help - all seems to be working now.
