Collation conflict when moving from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005

The problem...

The database you are using was originally SQLServer 2000. This means that the collation for the Database Server was most probably set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. As a consequence, the T-Plan database had the same collation as did all of the char & varchar columns in the T-Plan tables.

When the database is moved to the SQLServer 2005 server the collation of this new Database Server will be Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS by Default unless specifically changed by your DBA. If you try to change the collation of the T-Plan database to match the New SQLServer 2005 collation (Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS), This fails because the table columns are still SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

The solution...

Synchronise the collation of the SQL 2005 Database Server, the T-Plan database and the T-Plan table columns to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

This will require you or your DBA to set your SQL 2005 Database Server to be SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation and ensure the imported T-Plan database is the same . The table columns will already be SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

If you are using T-Plan Version 5.1.2 you will need to install the new SQL Performance Upgrade attached, your current SQL Performance Upgrade will not work correctly.

You will first need to delete the original extension from within T-Plan Professional -> Administration -> Extensions Manger.
I recommend removing the old extension using the removal script which is also attached. After that, delete the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\T-Plan\Extensions\SQLServerPerformanceUpgrade folder then install the extension.

The extension can be installed by simply extracting it to the Desktop or a memoral location and then double clicking on it.

Kind regards.
