Configuration Management

Post by MarkP » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:37 am

T-Plan does not appear to have any version control mechanism for test cases defined in design. Is there anyway that CM can be applied without using a manual process.

Mark,

There is no automated version control within T-Plan.

Using Manage you can create High level Suites related to each version and copy the necessary Scripts from Design into those Suites.

Any changes within Design (Script changes) will not be reflected in previously copied Scripts already scheduled in Manage. The Design Scripts can then be copied again into the next version high level Suite in Manage. etc.

Dave.

Hi,

I was investigating different ways of introducing configuration management.

Our first attempt was similar to the previously suggested option, except we made a copy of the test cases within design. We found this gave us a rather slow database with the requirements linked to too many instances of the same script.

Now, I simply make a backup of the SQL Server database at certain milestones/releases. I provide a link to the backups in TPAdmin, but keep them hidden from the Testers unless they need it.

Regards,

Richard.
