Enhancing the performance of T-Plan v5.1.1

Post by Anitacromb » Tue May 02, 2006 10:04 am

Hi,

We are looking at upgrading from T-Plan Professional v4.2 to v5.1.1. We have run some tests on a v5.1.1 test machine and we have found that some of the folders take a few seconds longer to open now (especially the Design and Manage folders if they have about 20+ scripts in them).

Our Oracle database expert is currently investigating how we can optimize performance on our database. Has anyone else experienced similar issues at v5.1.1 and if so, do you have any hints and tips for improving the database's performance?

Thanks,

Anita

T-Plan 5.1.1

Hi Anita,

We've had similar performance problems using an SQL Server rather than Oracle DB - but have migrated upto vn 5.1.2.

Whilst not providing a significant improvement in performance, it does seem to be more stable generally.

We await the SQL Server performance enhancements - implementing the first batch broke our db! - but perhaps they are also required for Oracle DBs?

5.1.2 SR2

Hi Anita & Russell,

We are in the process of testing release 5.1.2 SR2 which will hopefully resolve the performance problems you are having.

The release comes with an extension that will allow you to turn off the external reference notifications in the hierarchy to speed up performance.

If you require any further information please don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Ok thanks. We found that v5.1.1 is faster than v5.1.2 although we are looking at ways of improving the performance of v5.1.1 further.

Regards,

Anita

Hi Anita,

With the release of 5.1.2 SR2 you should get the performance of 5.1.1 with all the new functionality of 5.1.2.

Kind regards
